Well, the cab line was unbearably long at Mccarran Airport. But none to worry. Denise and I just got a skycap and had him help us with our luggage. Here's a shortcut hint for you. When you are traveling (and this works at most airports in most cities) get a skycap to help with your luggage; even if you only have one or two bags. For a two to six dollar tip, they will help you with your bags and then take you to the head of the taxi check-in line. That is why we never wait for a cab or wait to check in when arriving at an airport. Usually, we tip at least a dollar a bag. Why stand in line for fifteen minutes or more for a cab when you can get one NOW? Why spend fifteen years or more trying to establish a video business when you can have your own video production company now?

That's what Home Video Studio is: a shortcut. We are a shortcut to success in the video business. We will show you the path. Then you can make this business your own. That's the beauty of it.

We'll put together your website, give you marketing materials, training and of course, install your studio. This leaves you time to just plain run the business. You can also customize your Home Video Studio to be whatever you want. What will you specialize in?

One more thing. We're also big on personal responsibility. If you buy a Home Video Studio franchise, it is up to you to make it a success. We will work as hard as you do. Ultimately, success or failure lies in your hands. This is as it should be.

I will use this blog to discuss many topics. The most central or imperative topic, of course, will be making money with video, but I will touch on many areas: video production and editing, making a transition from what you are doing to what you want to do and, of course, raising the money to start your business, whether it is Home Video Studio or some other venture. So, if you have an interest in leaving your current career and owning your own business, stay tuned. We are going to have a great time! It will be a great ride, I promise you that.

This entry will be short and sweet. You see, at this moment I am sitting in a nursing home in Kirksville, Missouri. My father, Harold Hanley, had a stroke this week and now lies in a bed several feet from where I sit. Dad is 91 and has had a great life. Ironically, Dad always told me that when he went he wanted to go quickly. So, I hate to see him in this state. I mention my Dad in this opening entry for several reasons  one thing for sure, it was my Dad that taught me about making money. He told me many times in my life that I could do whatever I wanted to do. I might fail or succeed, but at least I would have tried. Dad told me this both with words and by example.

More about Dad, life and of course, video. But for now, just one thought comes to mind: Just Do It. That is Nike's motto and it has been one of the themes of my life for and well, forever. Sometimes, if you think about something too long, it just complicates things. So, I usually just do stuff now instead of later (unless it is doing the dishes!).
I am writing this blog entry NOW and not LATER. Live in the NOW. Whatever it is that you need to do today, just do it. Make it happen! Dont wait for later. Later may never come and if you do the now, NOW, hopefully you will enjoy the LATER, later.
This first entry is in honor of my father, Harold G. Hanley and not the late Harold G. Hanley, mind you, that will come later, as it will for all of us. But just in honor of my father and a man who did much for many, and was and is just Dad to me.

And now, see you later. Of course, later will be your NOW!

May the Force be with you...
